“Someone who’s nutty as a fruitcake is irrational or crazy.”
My name is Steph and I think this sums up my attitude to life. I am incapable of approaching things head on or the simple way…. but coming at problems from a different angle means I see some interesting stuff along the way. In this blog I am going to embrace my inner Nutta and see if different is actually better?
I live in the small Somerset town of Shepton Mallet, in the part of the UK known as the West Country. It is a rural community nestled on the edge of the Mendip Hills, close to Glastonbury, Bath and Bristol. Food is important in Somerset. Dairy farming is a major industry, cider-making is hanging on and the tourist industry supports a number of good, and independently minded, restaurants. We have the bright lights of the two big cities which offer every type and nationality of cuisine, if we fancy. In Somerset, we like organic, we love sustainable, and food miles are a big issue.
I try to grow my own.. I’m no expert, but I try and sometimes have fantastic crops that surprise even me.
This year is going to be a good year for giving it a go!
